Television Productionist (Director for live newscasts) – NBC25 WEYI-TV in the Flint/Saginaw/Bay City, Michigan, market is looking for a full-time Television Productionist (Director) to direct live newscasts. This will include morning shifts, evening shifts, and/or weekends.
Experience in directing live, professional TV news programming is required. Candidates must be capable of operating graphic systems, video “switching” systems, computers and associated software, printers, and display equipment used to produce a newscast. Must have the ability to control, operate, and modify the various graphic and video technologies in order to use the equipment and systems to their maximum capabilities. This individual shall have the ability to properly operate all technologies related to the production room; switchers, routers, tape or non-tape storage, cameras and all related equipment, editing and non-linear editing systems, audio control mixers, microphones, stands, cables, video and audio delays, lighting and lighting control.
The final candidate must have a valid driver’s license, and submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. This is a union position (UAW Local 1811).

ON-AIR SWITCHER (Full-Time) - NBC25 (WEYI-TV) and CW46 (WBSF-TV) is looking for a highly motivated self-starter for a full-time switcher position. Requires two years prior experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in Master Control Operations including but not limited to: automation systems, video server recording and playback, on-air switching, videotape operations, and live production operation. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft software and Microsoft Windows applications. Strong technical and computer operating skills, the ability to maintain accurate logs and calculate program timings. Ability to operate all television audio and video equipment. Must have good communication skills to discuss needs with technicians, sales managers, sales assistants, advertisers and news team. Must be capable of on-air switching, checking daily logs, confirming break times and format sheets, completing all paperwork associated with broadcast and transmitter logs, and operating all equipment connected with the broadcast operation and perform other related duties as assigned. Prior experience a plus. Must be able to work any shift, including evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.

INTERNSHIPS at NBC25 (WEYI-TV) and the CW46 (WBSF-TV) are available for full-time Juniors and Seniors enrolled full-time in 2-4 year colleges and universities. Interns receive college credit only and no financial compensation. The duration of an internship is generally one full semester per student. However, the specific length of the internship, minimum hours required to work to receive credits, eligibility and college credits awarded for successful completion of the program must be verified with the student’s faculty advisor.
