Ilse Lujan-Hayes is excited to be a member of the NBC 25 News team. She currently is a reporter/fill-in anchor for the morning show. Born in Los Angeles and raised in San Diego, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from California State University, Dominguez Hills.

Before joining NBC 25, Ilse worked as a print reporter for Los Cerritos News and a writer for the Emmy award winning morning show, KUSI’s Good Morning San Diego. She has worked as a weekend assignment editor, producer and reporter in the Flint market for nearly ten-years. Although her family is on the West Coast, she says the state of Michigan has won her heart.

“When someone shares their thoughts, their feelings with me, I am humbled. Talking and listening to others is my passion and I am blessed to be in the business of people and story-telling.”

The most memorable moments in her broadcasting career include interviewing Civil Right’s leader Rev. Jesse Jackson and Michigan’s first woman governor, Jennifer Granholm. Ilse enjoys covering stories from the ground up. Her compassionate personality allows her to reach out to families and individuals affected, while sharing the impact of the story.

Ilse is a devoted mother and when she’s not spending time with her work family, she enjoys hanging out with her three daughters. Ilse is also a part of The Center for Leadership Innovation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint. She’s blessed to be a member of La Familia MC3 (Multi-Cultural Community Church) in Flint. God is at the center of Ilse’s life.

If you have a story idea or just want to say hello, Ilse would love to hear from you.
