Walter Smith-Randolph joined NBC25 in January 2013 as a reporter.
Walter most recently worked for the ABC/CBS station in Elmira, New York. There, he worked every shift from lead reporter to morning show reporter and producer. He covered flooding from Tropical Storm Lee, the natural gas industry and everything in between. In 2011, Walter won three Associated Press awards including first place for Best Spot News Reporting and Best Enterprise Reporting.
Walter grew up in Queens, New York and is a New Yorker through and through. He holds a bachelors degree in Communication from Villanova University and a master’s degree in Journalism from The City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism. Walter has also worked for WRNN/Verizon FiOS 1 News and was a NABJ/NBC News Fellow at MSNBC. He also held internships at NBC Philadelphia, PBS’ Religion & Ethics Newsweekly, News 12 in New York City, and the NBC station in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Walter is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
In his free time, Walter enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
