James, an award-winning journalist, has been involved in both print and broadcast journalism for 17 years. He started working at WEYI as the station’s News Content Manager in July of 2011.
James has always been passionate about writing. Even in his earliest school days, writing essays and papers never made him groan. He was also bitten by the music bug growing up, turning that love into a music-writing gig. He wrote about music, movies and features for the Flint Journal for several years before trying his hand at broadcasting, working eleven years at WJRT as an assignment manager and Internet producer.
A musician himself, James loves covering concerts and live events whenever he can. And when he’s not out seeing live talent, he’s playing guitar, bass or drums at home. He’s also an avid reader, and likes photography and video projects.
James studied communications and psychology at Wayne State University. His family is all Michigan-born and bred, but James happened to be born in Nashville, Tennessee, thanks to his father’s stint with the U.S. Air Force.
When not at work, James spends time with friends and family.
