Media Alert - Historic Home is Final Genesee County Land Bank House Completed with NSP Funds

Flint, MI — Genesee County Land Bank will present the final home to be completed with Neighborhood Stabilization Programs (NSP) funds.WHAT: Press conference presented jointly by City of Flint and Land Bank officials to present thefinal home to be completed with NSP funds. WHO: Guest speakers include, Flint City Mayor Dayne Walling and County Treasurer Deb Cherry. Neighborhood home owners will be present to discuss neighborhood benefits.WHEN: Friday, October 12th at 10 a.m.WHERE: 841 East Ninth StreetDETAILS: NSP is a federally funded program and does not cost anything to Genesee County, the City of Flint or the Genesee County Land Bank. Dollars awarded as part of this program have gone to improve and stabilize the community. In 2010-11, NSP funds were used to build or rehab 134 homes in nine Genesee County communities and the City of Flint. Funds were also used to demolish 1,123 blighted homes. More than $21 million was spent through this grant program benefitting over 100 local businesses. An additional $15 million is projected to be spent on projects in 2012. 841 E. Ninth St. is an historic home and is the only NSP Land Bank home to be completed using NSP2 funds.About the Neighborhood Stabilization ProgramThe purpose of the program is to stabilize neighborhoods through demolition and renovation of selected homes.
