Business Type: Why Genesee Valley Church? Choosing a church to call "Home..." It's a decision some people approach casually - perhaps too casually - as if deciding where to have the dry cleaning done.
Is it close to my house? Are the hours convenient? Will I get to know the leaders? The good news is, more and more people are realizing the importance of belonging to a church family. They're discovering the support that comes through being connected to people who care about them. Learning how to live and love life!
Still, there's the question of which church to choose. For families to survive and thrive in these unstable times, they need plain, practical teaching from the only reliable source of truth and wisdom on earth - God's Word. That's the kind of teaching you'll find at Genesee Valley; Relevant – Reliable – Relatable.
Our statement of purpose is based on two teachings of Jesus.
Tony Umber, Senior Pastor As founding and senior pastor of Genesee Valley Church, Tony Umber is known for his relevant teaching style and his passion for raising up leaders to Love God, Love People, and Love LIFE. Tony and his wife Kelly have two girls and live in the Greater Flint area, where Genesee Valley Church began in 2009. Gary Malone, Assistant Pastor Kelly Umber, Children's Director Tony and Kelly are passionate about providing a life-giving church focused on the simplicity of the Gospel and the power of an intimate relationship with a loving God. Tonys’ leadership is changing the way church is being done in Flint. Genesee Valley Church currently has two services each weekend on at 9:30am and 11:00.am. Tony has a deep passion for developing leaders and planting life-giving churches. We are closely associated with Rhema and the ARC ministries.
