LANSING -- A national outbreak of fungal meningitis linked to contaminated steroids has affected at least 220 people in Michigan, an increase of six so far this week.

The Michigan Department of Community Health says there have been 67 meningitis cases and 13 deaths as Wednesday. Those figures are unchanged since Monday's report, but other infections have increased.

There also have been 13 epidural abscesses, one stroke and 16 peripheral joint infections. All are linked to contaminated steroids produced by a Massachusetts pharmacy used in injections for neck or back pain.

The state agency reported 214 infections on Monday.
