Grand Blanc photographer shoots the stars
For Grand Blanc photographer Gavin Smith, it's no big deal to shoot pictures of famous people. Like Calvin "Megatron" Johnson.
Smith is the team photographer for the Detroit Lions. He's shot many pictures of the Lions including personal pictures of quarterback Matthew Stafford. He's on the sidelines of every game and many of the practices. Those start by the way tomorrow in Allen Park.
The Harvard graduate says photography is his passion.
He's taken pictures of Kid Rock in a team meeting with the Lions, along with Red Wings Steve Yzerman and Nicholas Lidstrom. Smith says shooting pictures of famous people is just part of his business, which is located in downtown Grand Blanc. He just opened up an office in Fenton as well.
He also takes many senior pictures of high school students. Those pictures have become quite elaborate in recent years. Smith says he loves it when people come in with ideas. He admits cellphones have changed the world of photography and even hurt his business. But he believes the old cliche, you get what you pay for, in terms of quality pictures.
