MOUNT PLEASANT -- Add Central Michigan University to the latest school that has increased tuition rates for the 2012-13 academic year.

The school's board of trustees voted on Thursday to raise tuition by about two percent, adding $7 to the cost of each credit hour, according to MLive.

Students who reside in the state of Michigan currently pay $358 per credit hour and out-of-state students play $789 for each credit hour.

Room and board, graduate tuition and courses at the university's Global Campus were also increased by about two percent.

CMU president George Ross said setting tuition rates now will allow students financial planning time.

Last summer, CMU raised tuition by 3.47 percent, which was the lowest increase among Michigan's 15 public colleges and universities.

Other Michigan schools haven't yet set fall tuition rates.
