VASSAR -- Travis Mills, who served in Afghanistan for the U.S. Army, will be honored on Friday in his hometown of Vassar.

Mills lost all of his limbs in service when an IED exploded nearby, media reports indicated. He turns 25 this week and has a four-month old daughter in Texas.

Volunteers will be making about 150 ribbons for the 5 p.m. event on Friday at the water fountain in the community's downtown neighborhood.
