VASSAR -- Hundreds of supporters of Staff Sgt. Travis Mills turned out to a charity baseball game hosted at Vassar High School Sunday.

Team Mills sold t-shirts and bracelets to raise money for the Mills Family Fund.  Staff Sgt. Mills lost both his arms and legs April 10, when was injured in an IED explosion.

Mills is recovering at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and took some time to thank his supporters over the phone.

“Hey everybody, what's up?” Mills greeted people.

“Thanks for all your support, I appreciate it, my family appreciates it, my wife, my daughters.  You guys, you have a good day, everybody have fun, and I'll catch up with everybody when I get back around home,” Mills said.

Mills expects to have prosthetic limbs within the next few weeks.

Supporters are having a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Mills next Sunday, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Richville American Legion Post.
