SWARTZ CREEK -- A Swartz Creek Middle School student is recovering from minor injuries after she was hit by a car on her way to school.

Swartz Creek Police say the student was in a cross walk on Ingram Street when she was hit.

The driver wasn't hurt.

Officials say drivers and pedestrians need to be vigilant.

"The kids gotta be paying attention to traffic when they enter the crosswalk as well as the drivers have to be aware all these students are walking to school," said Swartz Creek Police Chiec Rick Clolinger.

Chief Clolinger says he does not know if the department will cite the driver at this time.
