FLINT -- A Montrose Township man is accused of abusing and killing his infant son.  23-year-old Jeramy Wagner was arraigned in 67th District Court Wednesday and charged with felony murder and first-and second-degree child abuse.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said it all started last Monday when Montrose Township police responded to a 9-1-1 medical call involving an infant in distress.  Police found the baby's mother - Wagner's girlfriend - trying to revive the three-month-old baby with CPR.  The baby was taken to Hurley Medical Center and pronounced dead on arrival.

On Saturday, police were called back to the same address for reports of a barricaded gunman.  Wagner was arrested after a three-hour standoff.

The medical examiner determined Wagner's baby died of blunt force trauma to the head.

“It never gets any easier for those of us in law enforcement who see way too often little children being abused to the point of being murdered in cold blood, and that's what we have here,” Leyton said.

A pre-trial is set for Nov. 2.  A preliminary exam is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6.
