Bad Axe apartment fire claims the life of an infant and two women

Apartment fire in Bad Axe claims the life of two adult females and an infant at 690 S. Van Dyke Rd.

Two women and an infant girl are dead after an apartment fire in Bad Axe.

On Thursday afternoon, the Bad Axe Police Department identified the victims as 23-year-olds Audrey Lynn Hogan and Melissa Marie Perkins and 11-month old Abrecona Viola Perkins.

The call came in at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night. Officers were dipatched to to 690 S. Van Dyke, apartment ten. When officers arrived they observed smoke and flames coming from the apartment.

The Bad Axe Fire Department arrived on scene and entered the blazing apartment. Firefighters extinguished the flames and recovered three bodies, two adult females and an infant girl.  

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family.
