Smith Village tours today

Home buyers can tour Flint's Smith Village housing complex starting today. (Wednesday). The long-delayed housing development on Flint's north side now has a new developer: Ginosko Development Company. It's relaunced the site, just north of 5th Avenue. A news release indicates its rebranding the site, now called "Renaissance of Smith Village". City officials indicate the newest plan is on schedule, with a line of buyers "ready to move in".

Families who have purchased homes will recieve hard hats an tour the homes. Phase one is expected to be completed by the end of January and will include 30 homes. 9 more will be completed in he spring.

The project has been hampered by delays and disagreements with developers. The government-subsidized housing project, which started 14 years ago but stalled over the course of several city administrations
