The Dow Chemical Co. says it will eliminate about 2,400 jobs and close roughly 20 manufacturing facilities as part of a restructuring plan aimed at coping with slowing economic growth in Europe and elsewhere.

The Dow Chemical Co. plans people in response to weak demand for its products in Europe. The Midland chemical manufacturer said Monday that the positions will be cut as part of a plan to trip costs by about $250 million each year.
