Flint Emergency Financial Manager Mike Brown and public safety leaders unveiled their plan Friday to revamp public safety in Flint. It includes re-opening the city lockup by July and integrating more state police in the Flint police department to help fight crime.

A weak turnout didn't prevent the harsh words people had for their councilmen Thursday. Councilmen Bernard Lawler (Ward 5), Sheldon Neeley (Ward 6) and Michael Sarginson (Ward 8) took the heat and addressed allegations they were among elected leaders who were supposed to protect the people, but instead let the state take over the financial mess in Flint.

The City of Flint Finance Department says the Fiscal Year 2011 end-of-year close and combined operating deficit is calculated at $7.34 Million (unaudited). The city also predicts the cash flow balance to be above $10 Million through September 2012.
