Senate Democrats successfully passed a measure today that would ban Canadian trash from being brought into Michigan. Sen. Liz Brater introduced an amendment to Senate Bill 436 that would prevent Canadian trash from being imported into the state, and after an 18-18 tie vote on the Senate floor, Lieutenant Governor John Cherry voted to break the tie and pass the amendment. Senate Republicans then voted on a party line vote to postpone the bill.
