FLINT -- Flint Emergency Financial Manager Ed Kurtz says the city plans to demolish around four-hundred homes in targeted areas.

Kurtz announced the city has two-point-two million dollars for demolitions. They are focusing on the Pierson Road area, North Saginaw Street, and the northeast quadrant of the city.

Kurtz says the focus of the demolitions is on improving public safety. The cost to demolish one home is about six-thousand dollars.

The city will maintain approximately four-hundred thousand dollars for emergency demolitions.
