Southwest Airlines announced on Monday future service details affecting four AirTrain Airways cities that will convert to Southwest Airlines service in 2013.

Beginning April 14, 2013, Southwest Airlines Nonstop Service will be offered between Flint and Baltimore/Washington, Orlando and Tampa Bay.

AirTran service in these cities will end the previous day, April 13, 2013.

To celebrate the new service, the carrier announced a fare sale offering one-way fares on new routes between $69 and $159.

Airport Director Jim Rice says Southwest serves many more cities than Airtran does. So officials feel it should be good news for Flint today. It comes at a time the airport could use some good news. So far this year, there has been a 13 percent drop in passengers.
