Fire evacuates Karn Weadock Plant

Firefighters worked a morning fire at Consumers Energy's Karn-Weadock Generating Complex in Essexville along the Saginaw River. A Consumers Energy spokewoman says about 45 the employees at the plant were evacuated.

The fire occurred at the Karn Unit 2 bunker room dust collector.

 A Consumers Energy Web site says 350 workers are employed there. www.consumersenergy.com/content

There are six generating units at Karn-Weadock. No injuries are reported. The plant is located along the river south of Bay City.
