She's a trustee at Mott Community College. And her husband is former Lt. Governor John Cherry. Now Pam Faris takes a big political step on her own.

Faris, who will represent House District 48, will take the oath of office as the areas newest State Representitive. She will be sworn in at 2 at the Genesee Township offices on Genesee Road. A news release says she'll be joined by family and friends. Her district includes the Clio area.

She narrowly defeated Genesee County Commissioner "Shorty" Gleason to win the election back in November. She's a lifelong Democrat.

Faris will take the oath from the Honorable Judith Fullerton, Genesee County Circuit Court judge. Faris will officially take office Jan. 1.
