MOUNT MORRIS TOWNSHIP -- There are plans to step up security at a Mid-Michigan school, following a shooting that injured four people.
It happened last night after the varsity match up in the Old Beecher High School parking lot, following a rivalry showdown between Beecher and Hamady.
Hundreds packed the gym to see Beecher win, but the excitement was short-lived. Security and uniformed officers helped clear the crowd, when shots rang out in the schools parking lot. Two 19-year-olds were hit, along with a 16-year-old, and 21-year-old.
Markings painted on the parking lot's cement show where police collected more than 50 pieces of evidence.
Beecher Superintendent Jerri-Lynn Williams says she'll be looking at new ways to keep students safe. Williams says the school has metal detectors, but she now hopes to put even more security measures in place. "We have administrators on call for certain games that are certain rivalries in the city," said Superintendent Williams.
"We always have extra adults come in, we'll always have a full compliment of our security and we already have. We have a schedule laid out for the entire season, it includes police. Will we probably try to protect parking lots a little more? Yes."
The victims include two current Beecher students and two alumni. One of the victims was released from the hospital, one wasn't admitted, and two are recovering from surgery.
Mount Morris Township Police continue to investigate, right now they don't have a motive for the shooting.
