FENTON -- All season long people become sick, but around this time of year the common cold is really common.

The winter season brings snow and cold temperatures, but that's not all.

"When you sneeze the air comes out at over 200 miles an hour, so if you cover your mouth some of it may get covered, but some of it does not," said Michele Strocel, creator of the Cough Cover.

"The germs go wherever it lands."

People all over passing along nasty colds, the germs just keep spreading.

"I was taking care of my grandchildren when they couldn't go to daycare because they had colds and they were coming over here and I kept getting colds," said Strocel.

Michele Strocel was a nurse for more than 25 years and one day it hit her.

"I thought wow wouldn't it be nice if you had something to wipe your nose on?"

It's Michele's creation, it looks like a bandage, but you apply it on to your sleeve.

If you wipe your nose, sneeze or cough, you can leave it there because the germs are trapped and won't travel any further.

"Any virus that comes into the Cough Cover, is one that's not in the environment," says Strocel.

All it takes is one touch, germs travel really fast.

"If you cough in your hands, everything you touch; door knobs, desktops are some of the dirtiest places," says Strocel.

Even though the Cough Cover is in plain sight, you won't expose anyone to your germs.

Michele Strocel plans on selling the Cough Covers in packages of 10 for under $5, Strocel will be passing out samples at the Genesee Valley Shopping Center in Flint this week.
