The USDA is sending out alert about a beef recall.

Valley Meats LLC is recalling approximately 96 thousand pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. Coli.

A cluster of illnesses in Ohio helped the government find the problem. Since, illnesses believed to be connected to the contaminated meat have been found in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Illinois.

Most of the beef was sold to restaurants or schools in eleven states, including Michigan.

E. Coli is a bacteria that can cause diarrhea, dehydration, and kidney failure.

To stay safe health experts say only eat ground beef or ground beef patties that have been cooked to a safe internal temperature of 160° F.
