Flames rip through an apartment complex, leaving nothing behind.
It happened in downtown Flint around between 9:30AM and 10:00AM.
The section of town was closed off while emergency crews rescued residents and tried to spare the building.
One of the residents who did not want to be identified said, "People came in, kicked my window out and told us there was a fire."
Devastated and displaced, the tenants of four apartment units on the 600 block of Grand Traverse try to keep warm while watching their belongings go up in flames.
Some tried to rush back in to get their belongings and were arrested after not stopping.
Wrapped in blankets, some in their bare feet, they can't believe everything is gone.
Several Genesee County departments helped out with the rescue and response, Davison, Burton, Swartz Creek, and Clayton Township all lending a hand.
The City of Flint uses an analog emergency frequency. A patch allows other departments to communicate with it, but the Flint Fire chief says it would be better if it had the newer technology.
Dandre Williams says, "It would make it a lot easier if we were on digital, but we play with what we got."
Crews say everyone made it out safely and no injuries were reported. That news was the only bright spot in a dark day for those left homeless.
The Salvation Army and Red Cross are assisting the affected families.
