SAGINAW TOWNSHIP -- Next school year will look a little different in Saginaw Township, with parents likely having busier than normal mornings. That is because many will find their kids spread out through the district, as part of school consolidation efforts.
“We are very upset about this,” said Nicole Ciesla, who has kids in the system. “We feel there’s no way you can go to all of those schools in the morning. You have children at one school and another school, and all that,” she said.
Superintendent Dr. Jerry Seese said the changes will save $950,000 a year.
“We would have two kindergarten schools, two 3-5 schools, and we will have a magnet school where they would have to test in,” he said. 10 teachers will also leave, but may find other positions due to retirements. Seese said the district still has more than $2 million more to go in cuts.
“We’ll be looking at the high school. We’ll be looking at the middle school. We’ll be looking at all departments and central office as well,” he said, of possible future cuts or adjustments.
