SAGINAW TWP. -- Projects at both Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University will benefit from funding recently approved by the Michigan Senate, said Sen. Roger Kahn.
"This is terrific news for Delta College, Saginaw Valley State University and their students," Kahn said. "If we want to turn Michigan around, then we must focus our efforts on ensuring that our young people receive the best college education possible. Funding these worthwhile projects will help make that happen."
The F Wing at Delta College will be renovated to help support Allied Health and Nursing programs. Approximately $9.9 million in state funding will be used to renovate 91,484 square feet and add a 950-square-foot addition for a hospital-size elevator to service the building and programs. The project total is $19.9 million.
Renovations at SVSU’s Wickes Hall will leverage $6 million in state funding for the $8 million project. The building is the university’s main student service and administration facility.
Senate Bill 1150, which allocates the funding, was approved by the Senate on Wednesday and sent to the state House for further consideration.
