FLINT -- It was a battle of the robots Saturday, with kids learning what it takes to become future engineers.

48 Lego teams from around the state competed Saturday afternoon in the 12th annual First Lego League Tournament.

It took place at Carman-Ainsworth Middle School.

This year’s theme is "The 2010 Body Forward Challenge," where teams explore bio-medical engineering.

"Students learn problem solving skills; they learn how to think like engineers.  They learn that they can actually do some real important engineering skills on their own," said Bill Welch, the Director of the Lego League Tournament.

Teams from Fenton, Flushing, Goodrich, and Linden participated in the competition.
