(AP) -- It's now legal to buy booze with Sunday breakfast at some Michigan restaurants and stores.

The state's new law allowing Sunday morning liquor sales starting at 7 a.m. kicks in at locations that have bought and received the required state permits. Previous law banned Sunday alcohol sales from 2 a.m. until noon.

The alcohol will not flow everywhere. Scores of communities across the state have told liquor officials they have opted to continue to ban Sunday morning alcohol sales. Communities also could ban sales at a later date if they choose.

The new state law was approved by legislators and signed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm earlier this year.
