BAD AXE -- “It’s the worst feeling in the world as a mother to not be able to protect her child,” said Kim Damrow of Huron County. She will be in jail on Friday from 7am until 7pm after a judge ruled she was in contempt of court for violating her ex-husband’s visitation rights with their 4-year-old son Boden earlier this month.
Damrow said she had cause to do so after a doctor evaluated her son and said his emotional distress is likely due to an abusive situation with his father Dustin Noworta.
“He came home from a visit and was terrified,” she said.
Damrow’s attorney filed an emergency motion with the court, challenging the judge’s ruling against her. Meanwhile her ex-husband’s attorney denies any allegations of abuse.
“If you read the (court report), she told the counselor that she didn’t believe my client would physically abuse a child. I don’t know where she’s coming from on that," said attorney E. Duane Cubitt. Supporters of Damrow are scheduled to rally outside the Huron County Court House in Bad Axe Friday. Kim Damrow is the wife of State Rep. Kurt Damrow.
