SAGINAW -- The phones ring off the hook inside the Saginaw County 911 Communications Center above the Sheriff’s Department outside of Old Town Saginaw.  Sunday night through Monday, a majority of calls received were from stranded drivers who have spun out, mostly along I-75 north and southbound.

“A lot of times with the expressway ones, you can get 40 calls for the same accident,” said Dean Giacoletti, one of the shift supervisors.

His team dispatched crews to 69 accidents between noon Monday and 8:30pm that night.  Fortunately serious injures were not reported in a majority of the calls, as most contained complaints of property damage.

Dispatch center executive director Tom McIntyre said the high winds have blown snow drifts back onto roadways, setting back the road crews working to make the drive safer for everyone.
