GENESEE TOWNSHIP -- Update: March 10th 9:00 a.m.

Genesee Township Police say the train has been put back in an upright position, and surrounding roads have been reopened. The train is still not rolling, but it has been cleared out of the way.

Fortunately, no chemicals were spilled during the derailment.  Police also say no one was hurt in the crash.

A train derails in Genesee Township carrying hazardous material.

Right now, East Carpenter Road between Harry Street and Dort Highway is closed, and it’s expected to stay that way for some time.

Emergency crews say four cars fell of the track, two turning over.

It’s not known what chemical material the train was carrying. Genesee County 911 says at this time it doesn't appear any hazardous material has spilled.

They evacuated one home in the area just to be safe.

No injuries are reported.
