LANSING -- The Michigan House narrowly approves legislation Thursday that would cut state funding to public schools, community colleges, and universities.

The Republican-led chamber approved the bill by a 57-53 vote, mostly along party lines.

The proposal would cut school funding by up to $297 dollars per student.

That’s on top of a $170 per student cut already in place.

Funding for community colleges and universities also would be cut.

The senate has passed similar legislation, now differences will have to be reconciled before a budget can be adopted.

Do you think the state budget is being balanced on the backs of students?
