Thursday, 10:30 p.m.

A suspicious letter was sent to the governor's office in Lansing Thursday.

According to a spokesperson with the Department of Management and Budget, an employee on the first floor of the Romney Building opened the letter.

Inside was a salt and pepper type substance.

The employee felt irritation on his hand but there was no need for any medical treatment.

A hazmat team was called in and state police are now investigating.

The building was not evacuated.

There is no information on where it came from, the post mark information has not been released and there was no return address.

The letter itself is described as "incoherent ramblings."
