ISABELLE COUNTY -- Update: Tuesday, June 7, 2011
The Isabella County Sheriff says detectives are combing through surviellance video recorded at a business near where the attack happened.
The suspect who attacked a woman at the University Meadows Apartment Complex near Central Michigan University has still not been identified or caught.
Many residents NBC25 spoke to at the University Meadows Apartment Complex had not heard about the terrifying attack the sheriff says took place just outside their homes.
They say they hope in the future apartment managers notify them.
"You would think we would have been alerted," said Elena Olivarez.
NBC25 tried to speak with workers at the apartment complex, but they had no comment. They told our crew to get off the property, or face trespassing charges.
Original Story: Sunday, June 5, 2011
The Isabella County Sheriff is asking the public to be on the lookout for a man who attacked a woman early Sunday morning.
Investigators say the man walked up to a 21-year-old woman as she walked on Sterling Way Road, near the University Meadows Apartments in Union Township.
She told deputies he grabbed her and tried to strangle her with a grey sweatshirt.
She fought back while screaming, and managed to get away.
The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s, about 5’10”, and 170 pounds. He had blonde hair in a “spiked” style. He did not have eyeglasses on, was clean shaven, and wore faded blue jeans with a white t-shirt.
Michigan State Police tried to track him with canine units, but were unable to. A sketch artist put together the attached composite of the suspect. If you recognize him, call the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office.
