Union members and volunteers are circulating petitions to repeal Michigan's emergency financial manager law.

The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, or AFSCME Council 25 out of Detroit organized the petition drive including one in Flint.

Organizers say having an unelected person leading in a government position is un-American.

Tom Greyerbieho, of AFSCME Council 25 says the law, "...basically gives authority of an appointed person to come in and do anything without our democratically elected officials and give all the authority to one person who is not familiar with the area."

The Flint group circulated around 250 petitions Saturday.

Tt needs 300,000 signatures to put it on the 2012 ballot.
