(AP) -- Central Michigan University trustees have approved a 3.47 percent tuition increase for in-state undergraduates, the smallest rise announced so far among the state's 15 public universities.

Central Michigan's board voted Thursday to set the tuition rate at $10,740 for a full-time in-state student for the 2011-12 academic year.

Northern Michigan's trustees voted Thursday to raise the cost for in-state undergrads by 6.99 percent, to $8,414. Grand Valley State is the only school that hasn't set its rates and is expected to decide Friday. Increases elsewhere range from 3.65 percent at Eastern Michigan to 7 percent at Oakland.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has warned universities against raising tuition by more than 7 percent.
