LAPEER COUNTY -- Governor Rick Snyder made two stops in Mid-Michigan Monday evening.
He stopped in Caro and Mayville for two town hall meetings.
NBC25 stopped in at the Mayville Town Hall meeting that took place at the Rich Township Hall at 6:00 p.m.
Gov. Snyder touted his plans for the future of Michigan and his accomplishments in office so far to a crowd of at least hundred people.
"It's time to reinvent our state and how we operate," said Governor Snyder.
Snyder says he would like to move agriculture to the forefront.
"We're going to stay focused on it and focus on research and development."
Snyder says his main goal is to create more jobs to keep people from moving out of state.
"We are going to innovate and lead the nation in talent. We have the talent right here we just need to connect us with one another in a better way."
"That's so important in educating our children and them being able to live and work here and continuing to revitalize Michigan, " said Lapeer County resident Linda Detavernier.
While some received his message with open arms, others were critical.
"It's important that we create jobs but the jobs are going to have to be better than minimum wage ones and I don't see a plan with him. I'm sorry, " said Lapeer County resident Dennis Harrand.
Snyder acknowledged those unhappy with his changes but went on to highlight his accomplishments in office so far.
"We balanced the kind of budget they need to pass in D.C. We balanced our budget."
Snyder says he plans to stay the course and make Michigan a better state for future generations.
"It's about creating a Michigan where our kids can stay and succeed."
