FLINT -- During the NBC25 Today Show Monday, we reported that Saginaw’s crime rate has decreased by over 30% in the last two years; now, Flint is looking at getting their crime rates down as well.

Just in time for “National Crime Prevention Month,” the City of Flint's Blue Badge Volunteer Corps Program is offering a series of free crime prevention workshops in October, in an effort to bring community awareness to the need to work together to reduce criminal activity.

The events will begin Saturday, October 1st from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the YWCA of Greater Flint on East Third Street.  Additional workshops will be held on Mondays from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. at the same location.

The City of Flint is hoping to inform the public on topics such as gun violence, drug crimes, domestic violence, and property crimes.

If you’re interested in attending, you can contact Tanya Meeks at the City of Flint by calling 810-239-9190 or via email at tmeeks@cityofflint.com.

In the meantime, we want to know what you think it will take to reduce crime in Flint.  Leave us your comments here or on the NBC25 Facebook Page or leave us your comments below.
