(AP) -- The City of Flint wants former mayor Don Williamson to pay $4.5 million for a discrimination lawsuit.

The Associated Press reports the city lost a lawsuit to 48 police officers who were a part of the Citizens Service Bureau under the Williamson administration. The group claimed they were looked over for promotions because of their race in 2006.

Arbitrators ruled in favor of the group, and awarded them $3.8 million, and the AP says now, with interest, that grown to $4.5 million.

According to the AP, Williamson’s lawyer says the city has no basis for forcing Williamson to pay for the lawsuit.
