BAY CITY -- Friends describe 17-year old Haley Coleman as a beautiful person inside and out.
"She just has this light about her. When you see her you just instantly feel like she loves you." said Haley's close friend Skyelar Lenderink.
A week before Mother's Day Haley starting having bad aches and went to the hospital when she couldn't take the pain of the headaches anymore.
After several tests the John Glenn High School senior was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
"Her attitude stayed positive. She wasn't complaining or angry," said her father Steve Coleman.
Haley had surgery to remove the tumore, along with undergoing radiation and chemotherapy at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
During the summer Steve says organizations and the community stepped up and helped the family with medical expenses.
Haley still has one more round of chemotherapy and the community is continuing to come up with fundraisers to help the family with bills.
Thursday, Bangor Township Schools is hosting "Hats for Haley" to raise money. For $1 students can wear a hat to school.
Steve says this outpouring of support , along with the family's faith in God is getting them through this difficult time.
"Haley is going to have a great long life and she's going to tell this story to her children," said Steve.
Haley's family hopes to have her back at home and healthy by Thanksgiving.
