Senate reviewing House-backed changes before sending law to Gov. Snyder
LANSING -- The Michigan House of Representatives passed legislation Wednesday afternoon that would repeal the state's current law requiring motorcycle riders to wear helmets.
State representatives passed the law 69-39, but did add some additional changes.
The state Senate must approve those changes before the bill goes before Governor Rick Snyder.
Former Governor Jennifer Granholm twice vetoed repeals of Michigan's motorcycle helmet law.
Snyder has not indicated whether or not he would sign the latest repeal into law.
Riders would have to meet certain insurance and experience requirements before being allowed to go without wearing a helmet.
