FLINT -- Results from the City of Flint clerk's office came in just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mayor Dayne Walling was victorious with 8,819 of the reported votes. Opponent Darryl Buchanan received 6,868 of the votes out of the 61 precincts reporting.
Just hours before the election polls closed, the City of Flint announced the Financial Review Team had released results of their study. The group is now recommending that the city obtain an Emergency Financial Manager.
NBC25 was live at the watch party where Walling supporters chanted “Four More Years” as the Mayor discussed his plans to improve the city over his next term.

Walling tells NBC25 about the EFM recommendation, "I'm prepared to do everything I can in my capacity. I've shown the willingness to make tough decisions to bring new jobs, new development to the City of Flint, and I'll continue to do everything I can as mayor to move our city forward."
Challenger Darryl Buchanan said he'll continue to fight for more police on Flint's streets. "They know if there were more police on the streets, we can change Flint's image from the murder capitol to a city that's an opportunity capitol and that's safe."
