"Buckle your kids up," that's the message from neighbors who witnessed a four year old boy killed during a weekend crash.
Neighbors tell NBC25 they had a hard time sleeping Sunday night after seeing something they say could have been preventable.
Around 6:00 p.m., police say the driver of a silver Monte Carlo ran the stop sign heading west on Lake Road crossing Bray Road.
A Ford Expedition crashed into the vehicle pushing it down into this ditch and up into a lawn.
"I've probably lived here 12 years and seen 30 accidents at least and never seen like this. This was the worst," says neighbor Crystal Lowell.
Neighbors and police say four year old Kenneth Allen McMahon was not buckled in.
Once witnesses realized someone had been ejected, they started looking for him.
"Felt like hours, but it was probably 20 minutes," says neighbor Lindsey Sproule.
They found him next to a house. He was already dead.
"If people would use their safety belts, buckle their babies, could avoid a lot of these things. It's a crying shame," says neighbor James Visser.
Sproule says, "I'll never forget the baby's screams."
Neighbors held the seven month old girl who was also inside the vehicle along with the driver 25-year-old John Goin and his girlfriend Breann Goin.
Neighbors say accidents near the intersection are frequent and would like to see a flashing light installed.
The driver of the Monte Carlo is still in critical condition.
The driver of the Expedition was treated and released.
