Board of trustees ratifies decision by a 4-3 vote
BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP -- Close to 150 people packed the Buena Vista Township offices Monday night as township officials discussed the controversial firing of Police Chief Brian Booker.
Booker was fired by Township Manager Bregitte Braddock last Wednesday, and little information regarding the dismissal has been made public.
Braddock state Monday night that Chief Booker had performed poorly on several performance reviews.
Kevin Kratz has been named interim police chief.
"You can't really dignify or sanctify why you picked Mr. Kratz, other than maybe he was feeding you some information," said Trustee Gloria Platko to Braddock.
Township supervisor Dwayne Parker repeatedly asked Platko to maintain decorum, before finally asking that it be publically noted that he felt Platko was out of order.
"I'm not sure what else to tell you to look in the board packets. If you keep your board packets its there. Its not, not there, its there," said Braddock, referring to township documentation that gives her the right to dismiss township employees without cause.
After a drawn out public comment session, the board of trustees voted 4-3 to not reinstate Booker.
This caused dozens of residents to get up and leave the meeting.
