SAGINAW TOWNSHIP -- Two police chases leading into and out of Saginaw Township land six suspects in jail.

Since the end of January, robbers have been stealing from several Saginaw Township banks and credit unions.

The United Financial Credit Union on Weiss was robbed February 6th and again last Tuesday.

Amanda Karlsen's sister lives near the credit union. "You think of a bank robbery and that's a crime that you think no one will ever get away with and seeing it happen a couple doors down from here, twice, was just unsettling," says Karlsen.

Friday afternoon, police in Owosso chased three people who they say had just robbed a bank at gunpoint.

They were finally stopped in Saginaw County's Thomas Township.

"Not only is it dangerous to the officers, but it's also dangerous to the general public who are not expecting to have suspects fleeing police," says Saginaw Township Police Chief Don Pussehl.

After interviewing them, police say those men were also responsible for the robberies in Saginaw Township.

"I'm pretty happy, you know, I deliver pizzas around here so, kind of made me feel a little unsafe knowing they were our there still. I'm very happy they finally caught them," says Karlsen.

Then, Sunday, around 1:30 a.m., Saginaw Township officers say they saw a white cargo van parked behind the Express Pharmacy on Bay Road.

One of the officers chased a man on foot and later took him into custody.

Meanwhile, two other suspects took off in the van, traveling on I-675 through the City of Saginaw, and eventually crashing the van in a drainage ditch in a farm field on the 6200 block of Mackinaw Road.

Police say the suspects were from the Detroit area and that the van had a lot of prescription drugs inside.

"We're very fortunate that the pharmacy had a good alarm system and that the officers took fast response to the alarm and were able to take the three Detroit suspects into custody," says Pussehl.
