Flint police identify man killed in garbage truck crash

Police chased a stolen car through Flint yesterday before it finally collided with a garbage truck.  The driver was killed on scene.  / Mike McManaman

FLINT -- ***Update***

Flint Police have identified the man killed after a high-speed collision with a garbage truck early Thursday morning at the intersection of Clio and Dayton roads.  29-year-old Anthony Harrison was killed after officials say he was driving at more than 100 mph to flee police.

A man was killed after a high-speed collision with a garbage truck at the intersection of Clio Road and Dayton Avenue in Flint.

The incident occurred at 5:30 a.m. when officials say a car was fleeing from police going over 100 mph and collided with a Waste Management truck.

Officials told MLive on Friday that the car was stolen, which is why the driver was fleeing from police in the first place.

According to witnesses the man ran a red light and collided wtih the truck.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Waste Management truck was not injured.
