SAGINAW -- A local football team shared some its proceeds Saturday with a soldier recovering from an IED injury.

The Saginaw Sting hosted Travis Mills Night, giving $3 from each $10 ticket sold to the Mills Family Foundation.  U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills lost both his arms and legs in Afghanistan last month, when he stepped on an IED.  Mills former coach at Vassar High  School teamed up with the hockey team to organize the fundraiser.

"I’m still here, and I'm enjoying all the freedoms that we have in this country, because they're willing to go do what they're doing, and they're over there so we don't have any instances like we had at 9/11,” said David Pratt, a member of Team Mills at Saturday’s game.

Mills’ supporters say they've gotten international support as well.  A man from Russia sent a $1,000 check, and four children from the United Kingdom sent a card with well wishes to the family.
