FLINT -- In a surprise announcement today, Emergency Financial Manager Mike Brown announced the the current local contractors working on Smith Village will be replaced by a Millford firm called Ginosko Development.

The company being replaced was assigned the project less than a year ago and replaced the previous firm.

The 14 year old federally funded project has seen multiple delays as residents are not waiting to get into fully completed homes but can't due to lack of sewer, running water, driveways and completed roads, says 5th Ward Councilman Bernard Lawler.

Residents held a protest gathering today to express their displeasure with the delays.
